Don’t Swallow the Hook (Part 4)

In the realm of religion, it’s essential to remember that our faith is not based on human traditions or rituals, but on the Word of God. “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ” (Colossians 2:8, NIV).

We must be careful not to get caught up in the latest spiritual trends or fads that have polluted the online space. Instead, focus on building a strong foundation on the Word of God. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, NIV).

The entrance of the Word gives light – spiritual illumination or enlightenment. That’s why the Apostle emphasized being rooted and grounded in the Word, not being tossed to and fro by teachings that lack foundational truth. The need to move beyond elementary principles of Christ and into perfection, which is His love and compassion.

We’re often caught up in fighting about tithes and debating who existed before the creation of man and the world. We’re following itching ear preachers who have itching ear followers. They cannot discern between the engrafted Word of God. If you’ve been set free by Christ, you must double your stalwarts. Let no rain or wind of doctrine from selfish and self-centered men, who serve their ego rather than the cause of Christ, drag you into their way of following and worshipping God.

Satan, through his fall, has seen the pattern of things in heaven. His dethroning brought false worship, like worship of angels, burning of incense, and pouring of libations. People say they’re giving to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, but when it comes to God, giving Him all becomes a heinous task. Why do you accuse or find fault with God and Jesus Christ His beloved Son? Why say His ways are hard to follow?

Let no man or religion deceive you. God has set a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through His Son, Jesus Christ. It will be too late to believe that what God says is true. Don’t hide behind religion to say things, do things, or even kill and rob the poor. Jesus Christ never hates the poor. “And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 *The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he had anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he had sent me to bind the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the of the Lord. Luke 4:17-19.
James 2:2-5.

Find out what true religion is: “This is a faithful saying… That they which believed in God might be careful to maintain good works for necessary uses… They are profitable to men” (Titus 3:8). “But avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain” (Titus 3:9).

If anyone among you seems to be religious and yet does not bridle their tongue, but deceives their own heart, this person’s religion is vain. “Pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world” (James 1:26-27).

Have you given your life to Jesus Christ? Are you set apart for Him? Is the flame of holiness and righteousness still burning in your heart? Please pray for peace in the families, communities, and nations of the world. Reach out and touch someone else; try to make the world what God wants it to be in Jesus’ name.

If you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, time waits for no one. Pray:

“Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you as a sinner, have mercy on me, forgive me my sins, I confess that you are my personal Lord and Savior. I received by faith the assurance of the forgiveness of my sins in Jesus Christ’s Holy name, Amen.”
