The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has disowned Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, declaring that he is no longer a member of the party and is therefore incapable of convening or supervising any party congress in Kogi State.

This was disclosed in an official letter dated 17 November 2025 addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by SDM Law Firm, acting on behalf of the ADC. The letter was signed by Senator Dino Melaye, Esq., and copied to the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services, and the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner .

The ADC said the notice of an expanded Kogi stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for 22 November 2025, and reportedly issued by Abejide, was misleading and illegal. The party clarified that the constitution of the ADC does not provide for any office called “National Leader,” the title Abejide allegedly used in the notice of meeting .

According to the party, Abejide was expelled following due disciplinary process for anti-party activities and conduct considered inimical to the interest of the ADC. It stated that his expulsion automatically strips him of any authority to act for the party or summon any congress or meeting in any capacity whatsoever .

The party stated that only properly constituted organs of the ADC are empowered to convene valid congresses, describing any gathering called by Abejide or his associates as “illegal, null, and incapable of producing any binding effect.”

It also revealed plans to initiate legal action if the expelled member continues to issue directives in the party’s name.
