15 African, American Philanthropists, Legends Bag 2025 AFRO-Awards

Not fewer than 15 Africans and Americans Philanthropists and Legends are to be honoured with the prestigious 2025 Afro Awards for their humanitarian services.

The AFRO awards, scheduled for Oct. 25 in Los Angeles, California, is an annual and non profit event being powered by Oduala Foundation to honour outstanding individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to humanity in various fields.

Chief Taiwo Oduala, Executive Director and Founder of AFRO awards, in a statement described the annual event as a “unique Afro-centric excellence award” on individuals and organisations that had touched lives in their communities.

Oduala gave the names of tge honourees to include: Howard Hewett – Music Icon Award, GRAMMY Award–winning legend whose timeless voice continues to inspire and unite audiences worldwide.

He said that among the awardees are are two Nigerians, Binta Ayo-Mogaji, an icon of African cinema whose work has inspired generations across the globe and Dr. Azeezat Abiola-Amusat, a creative force preserving and elevating the beauty of African heritage.

Others are Michael Blackson – Diaspora Humanitarian Award, a global entertainer using his platform to give back, uplift, and bridge communities across continents. (Michael Blackson Academy)

Kolapo Soretire – Community Innovator & Impact Award
A visionary leader driving meaningful change through innovation and service.

Special Guest: Sam Pounds, Grammy Award–winning singer, songwriter, and producer.

Stonebwoy – Global Music Excellence Award, an international artist, songwriter, and humanitarian making waves in global music and philanthropy.

Omar J. Dorsey – Actor / Producer / Director
A dynamic storyteller redefining representation in Hollywood.

Al Joyner – Olympic Champion
A sports legend who continues to inspire excellence on and off the track.

The film director said that Sheen Media Group, the Official Media Partner, will provide exclusive red carpet coverage, interviews, and in-depth editorial storytelling.

However, the AFRO Awards, founded by Taiwo Oduala, is a global awards platform designed to reward, inspire, and encourage individuals and organizations making an extraordinary impact on humanity.
