As Nigeria celebrated its 65th Independence, the Michael Omonogun Memorial (MOM) School Lokoja, has marked the occasion with joy, singing, and patriotic fervor to celebrate the National day.

Dr. Mrs. Joana Omonogun, the Proprietress of MOM School Lokoja, on Thursday at the event, delivered a heartfelt speech highlighting the significance of celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day with pride and hope for a brighter future.

According to her, the celebration serves as a reminder of Nigeria’s freedom from colonial rule, unity, and progress.

Dr. Omonogun emphasized that the day reminds Nigerians of their freedom from British colonial rule, which was achieved on October 1, 1960.

The Proprietress also noted that the celebration promotes love for the country, unity, peaceful coexistence, and inspires hard work towards making Nigeria great.

“It teaches us unity, we remember that no matter our tribe, language, or religion, we are one people and one nation,” she said.

Dr Omonogun urged the students to be happy, prayerful, and proud of their Nigerian heritage.

She emphasized the importance of remembering the nation’s heroes who fought for independence and expressed hope for a better tomorrow that would make Nigeria proud and respected globally.

“It gives us hope for a brighter tomorrow that will make Nigeria proud and highly respected among the nations of the world,” she added.

Dr Omonogun concluded her speech by encouraging the students to love and cherish Nigeria, their home.

“We will always remember that Nigeria is our home; we will love and cherish her as long as we live,” she said.

Our Correspondent reports that the MOM School Lokoja joyfully celebrated Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, with pupils, students and staff showcasing their patriotism through singing, performances, and heartfelt tributes.
