The Okun Development Association (ODA) has strongly condemned the recent attack on police officers in Ilafin community, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Thomas, ODA said the senseless act of violence is a direct assault on the peace and security of the community, and expressed its unequivocal stand against such barbaric acts that undermine the sacrifices of gallant security personnel.
ODA extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers, the Nigeria Police Force, and the people of Okunland and Kogi State.
“We commend the bravery of the police and vigilante team who continue to stand in defense of their people, often at great personal risk,” the statement said.
Okun Development Association called on Federal and State Governments to take immediate action to prevent further breaches and ensure justice is served.
The Association urged the governments to strengthen the security presence in the affected areas by reinforcing police stations and checkpoints with modern security gadgets.
“Additionally, community-driven intelligence should be supported to defeat criminality and promote peace, safety, and justice. Most importantly, the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be tracked down and brought to justice without delay.
“The Okun Development Association remains united with security agencies to ensure peace, safety, and justice in our community. We recognize the sacrifices made by our security personnel and their families, and we pledge to continue supporting efforts to enhance security infrastructure and promote community trust-building,” the statement added.
