A civil society organization, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflicts Resolution (CHRCR), has bemoaned the killing of policemen in Egbe community, Yagba West local government area, Kogi state.
In a statement on Thursday, the Executive Director of CHRCR, Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, said the killing of police officers at their duty post is worrisome and calls for recalibration of security strategy.
The CSO suggested holistic community involvement in the security architecture of Kogi state.
CHRCR called for a new strategy in community resilience and reiterated demand for state police.
“Despite efforts of our security men and the state government, it is worrisome to witness this type of madness.
“This unfortunate incredible happening has further reinforced the call for the creation of state police in Nigeria and the time is now.

“We call on all communities, villages and local governments in Kogi State to setup a security committee in their various locations to compliment the efforts of the conventionally trained personnel. Retired and serving security persons who are indigenes of the community should be included in the committee.
“Resources should be mobilized by both private and public indigenes to compliment the efforts of the state and federal government as security is every business,” he said.
CHRCR called on residents to be vigilant and conscious of security situation in their respective communities at all times.
“We must create an early warning and respond mechanism, share credible and timely security information to relevant institutions and agencies,” he added.
CHRCR condoled with families of the slain officers and the Nigeria police force, Kogi state command.
