Passionate Request for Urgent Help to Control Erosion at Zone 12/Area 4, Unit 8 Community, After Power Line, Zango Daji, Lokoja, Kogi State

We, the residents of Zone 12/Area 4, Unit 8 Community, after Power Line, Zango Daji, Lokoja, write with deep concern and a heartfelt plea for urgent intervention. Our community is under severe threat from rapidly expanding erosion and gully formation, which is worsening daily and destroying our environment, farmlands, and access roads.

During the rainy season, the situation becomes unbearable. The gully has grown so wide and deep that it is cutting off movement, threatening homes, and endangering the lives of children and residents who struggle to cross the water paths. What used to be a small water channel has now developed into a dangerous erosion site, putting the entire community at risk of displacement.

We humbly appeal to the Kogi State Government, the Federal Ministry of Environment, Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), NGOs, and all well-meaning individuals and organizations to come to our aid. With proper erosion control measures such as channelization, drainage construction, and reinforcement of embankments, this threat can be contained before it escalates further.

We are not just asking for help—we are crying out for the safety of our families, the future of our children, and the survival of our community. Every delay deepens the gully and increases the danger.

Please, we need your urgent intervention to save Zone 12/Area 4, Unit 8 Community, Zango Daji, Lokoja from this devastating erosion before it claims more lives and properties.

The road links Zone 12 community of Zango to Area 4 Community, also in Zango. This same road leads to Zango burial ground.

This challenge recently claimed the life of a young boy.

With gratitude and hope,

Concerned Residents of Zone 12/Area 4, Unit 8, After Power Line, Zango Daji, Lokoja, Kogi State.
