The Kogi State Police Command today presented cheques under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Scheme to families of police officers who died in active service.
This gesture, according to the police public relations officer SP William Ovye, was in line with the IGP’s unwavering commitment to improve the welfare of the families of officers who died in active service.
The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, DCP Baba Mallam Alhaji, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries in Lokoja.
The total sum of ₦52,885,344.83 was disbursed to 27 families of fallen heroes of the command.
In his remarks, DCP Baba noted that the gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to the welfare of police personnel and their families. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to support the upkeep and future of their households.
He reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the fallen officers will never be forgotten, emphasizing the IGP’s unwavering commitments to improve the welfare of both serving and retired personnel, as well as the families of those who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the financial support, noting that it will go a long way in cushioning the effect of the loss of their loved ones.
