Lokoja Local Government has announced the immediate ban on all illegal revenue collection activities on highways, particularly around Nataco-Okumi-Banda and Felele areas.
According to the local government chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, the decision aims to enhance free movement of people and goods as well to end the extortion and harassment of motorists and other road users.
While urging residents and travelers to report incidents to authorities, the Council Chairman said a taskforce has been constituted to go round and enforce compliance.
He urged individuals and groups involved to comply and dismantle all blockage on the road immediately to avoid severe consequences.
