9 LGAs to Benefit from NAPEP Projects in Kogi

At least nine local government areas in Kogi State are expected to benefit from 50 projects by the National Poverty Eradication Programme, NAPEP. The projects are expected to be spread across the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State and it will cover such areas as rice production and processing, fisheries and cropping.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President and National Coordinator, NAPEP, Alhaji Murktar Abubakar Tafawa Balewa who disclosed this at the flag-off of the grassroots state’s projects held at Glass House, Government House Lokoja; added that NAPEP has committed the sum of N20million, while Kogi State Government contributed N10million as counterpart fund. He noted that the project is a revolving scheme and not grants, saying the beneficiaries are expected to become independent over a period of time.

Alhaji Balewa stressed further that Kogi State has taken giant stride in collaboration with NAPEP in respect of cassava processing plants at Egbeda, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state; adding that NAPEP and Kogi State contributed to the project.
