The people of Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency has expressed gratitude to the member representing their constituency who is also the Deputy Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, Hon. Buba Jibril for his timely intervention in organising a 4 days medical outreach in his constituency.
In a carnival like atmosphere, the people of the area trooped out to the centres in Lokoja and Koton Karfe where they were treated of various illness and diseases.
The medical outreach was sponsored by Hon Buba Jibril in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Doctors on The Move Africa (DOTMA).
A member of the medical team, Pharmacist Wada Success told our correspondents in Lokoja that seven hundred and seventy two people (772) were treated of diseases such as malaria, typhoid, hypertension, diabetes, thyroiditis, urticarial, fungi infections etc.
Pharmacist Wada added that 22 patients were booked for eye surgery, 3 for thyroidectomy, and 7 people for appendicitis.
The medical outreach is a big relief to the people of the area as government hospitals have been on strike in the state leaving the people at the mercy of private hospitals which has denied many of them access to quality medical attention as most of them cannot afford treatment at private hospitals.
Drugs and eye glasses were given to the beneficiaries free of charge. Some of the patients interviewed by our correspondent expressed gratitude to Hon. Buba for the lofty initiative and pray to God to continue to bless the him.
