Three years ago, Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Sadiq Ohere was appointed as the Special Adviser to the Governor on local government and chieftaincy affairs. He is to manage over 200 traditional rulers in the state, supervise the activities of the 21 local government administrators, ensure stability, peace and development at the third tier of government which of course made up an entity called Kogi State.

His successes/challenges so far will be a topic for another day…

Barely two years into the administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello, Engr. Ohere, an experienced administrator and a veteran politician evaluated the challenges facing the government occasioned by the activities of previous administrations vis-a-vis developmental plans of the present new direction government and concluded that, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello will certain need another term in office to successfully implement the new direction policies and put the state on a strong foundation for sustainable development.

Engr. (Dr) Abubakar Sadiq Ohere initiated the 4+4 Slogan and founded a group known as the “4+4 Network For GYB”. This was to create awareness to the public that, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello should be supported for 8years in office via raising the eight fingers which means 4+4=8.

However, what seems like an agenda sorely for the re-election of Gov. Yahaya Bello soon went viral across the Federation with different political support groups adopted the slogan to campaign for the re-election of President Muhammad Buhari.

The President himself officially acknowledged the 4+4 campaign slogan on 7th November, 2018 at a joint session of National Assembly during the 2018 budget presentation.

All Progressive Congress (APC) later adopted the 4+4 slogan throughout the Presidential campaign which they won convincingly.

Today, everywhere you go, it’s 4+4 slogan for Gov. Yahaya Bello…

God bless men of goodwill
