2nd CAMPDAVID Sports Fiesta Ends in Style

It was all fun and excitement at the just concluded CAMPDAVID Sports Tournament which at the Lokoja Township Stadium.

Three Sporting events were competed among over 400 participants which includes Five Aside Soccer, Draught and traditional game of “Ayo”.

Angwan Tiv Soccer team defeated Etsu Lions 2-1 in the final of football event.

In the Draught event, James Obayomi claimed gold medal after beating Bala Muhammed in the final, while John Okoye and Amos Omokorie were joint top placed.

The traditional sports, ‘Ayo’ saw Mary Alauja winning gold in the female category while Ahmodu Dangana and Regina Suege claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Seidu Ebiloma also won gold in the male category of ‘Ayo’ event beating Yinusa Maidugu in the final and James Daniel won bronze.

Director of CAMPDAVID, Apostle Emmanuel Shelika the aim of organizing the monthly sports meet was to encourage youths to take active participation in sports to better their lives.

He added that the tournament has helped in spreading the rules of 5-Aside to the people of the area just as he called for supports from the government and other corporate bodies.

Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in Kogi State, Honorable Attah Ikani Sule commended the organizers for successfully staging the event which has assisted the state in combing the crannies to fish out talents for national honors in sporting events.

Honorable Sule, who was represented by Deputy Director, Sports Development in the ministry, Okeme Innocent said “It is no doubt that Campdavid has assisted the state in development of youth talents, enhancement of sports in all ramifications and reducing crimes among the youth,” said Hon Sule.

He however reiterated the state government’s commitment to encourage and providing conducive environment for other organizations like CAMPDAVID.

The first edition of CAMPDAVID organized sports competition came up in October with only 5-Aside that was claimed by Zico Babes.
