In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Onyegbule, Governor Yahaya Bello thanked God for sustaining the state thus far, saying that it takes the will of God for a state like ours that has gone through years of maladministration to still remain standing. He hinged it on the love, hard work and the resilient attitude of Kogites in ensuring that Kogi State continues to keep its head above waters.
“Kogi State is on the right path despite numerous challenges faced. We are committed to harnessing the diverse economic potentials of the state and position it on a sound economic footing that will make us self-sufficient. We’ve made serious investments in the agric sector, strengthened the revenue board and empowered small and medium enterprises to stimulate the micro economy.
“By providing a safe and secure environment for all, local businesses now thrive unhindered, and foreign investors now find the state conducive to invest and conduct their businesses.
“Our performance in the mainstreaming and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is another confirmation of our astute commitment to greater service. Through proper implementation and monitoring, the government have ensured that projects are not only dotted in every community, they are projects that have direct impact on the lives of the people.
“Notwithstanding the current challenges, we will continue to initiate and execute projects and programmes to address the needs of the state,” he said.
The Governor reassures workers of the state that his administration holds them in high esteem and will never do anything to short-change them.
“The ongoing civil service reform is achieving the desired results of blocking leakages and making the service more efficient and effective. The occasional delays witnessed in the payment of salaries is due to the general economic downturn being witnessed all over the country.
“But government is working round the clock to ensure that we put that behind us, and as the financial situation of the state improves,” he added.
The Governor assures civil servants that salaries will be paid fully and promptly.
He appreciated the good people of Kogi State for their continued support and the unwavering determination to face the challenges of the moment and the changes that the New Direction Government have introduced to pave way for good governance, transparency and accountability.
He applauded the roles being played by the Kogi State House of Assembly, the Judiciary, traditional rulers, the media, civil society groups and other stakeholders in the growth and development of the state.
