In a major political tsunami ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has polled his Constituency’s highest votes in the Nationwide All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Federal House of Representatives.
The victory now positions him as the party’s standard flag bearer in his third term bid to represent Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State at the National Assembly.

The Deputy House Leader entered the primary election with a significant political leverage, traceable to his outstanding performance in the period under review backed by his constituents resolution to consolidate his performance for more dividends of democracy.
Rep. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims polled a total of ten thousand, five hundred and sixty two votes in Ankpa, One thousand, three hundred and fifty nine votes at Omala and one thousand, three hundred and ninety nine votes in Olamaboro Local Government Areas to make a total of thirteen thousand, three hundred and ninety nine votes and was returned as aspirant with the highest valid votes across the thirty four electoral wards of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency.
Following the official declaration by the returning officer of the election, Mr Mohammed Shaibu, the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, in his characteristic demonstration of statesmanship extended an olive branch to his opponents, calling on all co-aspirants to accept the result in good faith and uphold their kind gesture to the people of the area adding that the future is always bright for those who believes in the reality of their dreams.
He commended those who withdrew from the election earlier before the commencement of voting and cautioned both his supporters and his opponents’ supporters to see themselves as one and desist from both comments and actions that are capable of causing division within the party and Federal Constituency at large stressing that in every peaceful election, there is neither a Victor, nor a vanquish.
By securing the APC’s ticket for the 2027 election, Rep Halims stands a chance of becoming the first ever lawmaker to be elected for three consecutive terms into the same Legislative office in the entirety of Kogi East.
Past and serving Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, House of Assembly Members, State and Federal Appointees, Security Operatives as well as INEC Nigeria officials who witnessed the exercise unanimously described it as a very free, fair, peaceful and transparent election.
