In a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State has collapsed its entire structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the former NNPP Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the local government, Suleiman Usman Ada, the decision to move to the PDP was driven by deep conviction. He stated that the defection is not just a political calculation but a firm belief in the PDP’s vision for democratic emancipation in Nigeria.

Welcoming the defectors, a PDP leader in Lokoja LGA assured the former NNPP members of total acceptance and full support as equal members of the PDP.
The leader also urged other opposition members yet to join to return to the PDP, describing the party as the safest home for democratic freedom and progressive change in Nigeria.
