As the aspiration for Kogi State House of Assembly seat hots up in next year’s election, the people of Kupa South have firmly insisted on the return the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf for a second term.
This is coming on the heels of increased consultations among aspirants, one of whom the people turned down any form incentivization from, stressing that their choice remains the current occupant of the seat.
The aspirant, Ismail Sanni, went on consultation and presentation of intent letter to the people, who turned him and said their mind is set on re – electing the Speaker.
The visibly disappointed aspirant and his team left the venue of the meeting, with his financial incentive also turned down as the people insisted that Rt. Hon. Umar has done enough to earn a return to the Assembly.
They noted that they have made their choice for 2027 and that nothing can change it unless the entire Political Wards of Lokoja II become together to change their minds again.
The position of the Ward was presented by the PDP candidate in the 2023 Assembly Election, Hon. Kashim Ishaku.
He noted that the entire people of the area, comprising the Wards that make up the State Constituency had earlier, in two previous meetings, stated that they support the return of the Speaker, and that they stand by it.
On their part, other stakeholders also flatly turned down the aspiration and insisted that they would continue to refuse any form of incentive or intent letter from anyone because they stand by Hon. Assignment as the Speaker is popularly known.
