The Greater Igala Female Group, a respected socio-cultural and advocacy body representing women across the nine local government areas of Kogi East, has formally endorsed Hon. Hilary Edime Amodu as its preferred candidate for the Senate in the 2027 general elections.
According to the National Coordinator, Dr. (Mrs.) Juliet Ibrahim, in a statement on Tuesday, the endorsement follows extensive consultations, critical assessment of leadership qualities, and a careful review of his longstanding contributions to the development of the Igala nation.
The group said over the years, Hon. Hilary Edime Amodu has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the preservation of Igala heritage, promotion of unity, and advancement of community-based development initiatives.
“Through platforms such as Who Is Who in Igalaland and the Igala Carnival, he has consistently celebrated Igala excellence, promoted cultural pride, and strengthened social cohesion across generations.
“As women who serve as pillars of families and custodians of community values, we recognize leadership that is rooted in service, integrity, and accountability. Hon. Amodu’s track record reflects these virtues. His consistent engagement with grassroots communities, youth, and women groups has shown that he understands the real challenges facing our people — from economic hardship and limited opportunities for women entrepreneurs to infrastructural deficits and inadequate social services.
“We are particularly encouraged by his articulated vision for Kogi East, which prioritizes women’s economic empowerment and access to opportunities, youth employment and skill acquisition, improved healthcare and educational infrastructure, transparent and accountable representation at the National Assembly, policies that promote inclusive and sustainable development.
“At a time when Kogi East requires focused, principled, and visionary leadership, we believe Hon. Hilary Edime Amodu possesses the capacity, character, and competence to effectively represent our district in the Senate,” she said.
The Greater Igala Female Group said it is convinced that his emergence will not only strengthen Igala representation at the national level but also ensure that the voices of women and vulnerable groups are amplified in legislative discourse and policymaking.
“We, therefore, call on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Kogi East, political stakeholders, community leaders, and youth organizations to rally behind this noble aspiration for the collective progress of our people.
“The future of Kogi East must be shaped by credible leadership — and we are confident that Hon. Hilary Edime Amodu is the right choice at this defining moment,” the statement added.
