Kogi Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Monday Anyebe, has charged the Confluence Queens FC to go for ‘gold’ at the on going Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super six tournament at Yenagoa in Bayelsa State.
Anyebe gave the charge while addressing the Confluence queens FC players shortly after there training session on Sunday at Yenagoa.
The commissioner admonished the players to give it all it takes by working hard to come out victorious at the tournament and make Kogi proud.
Anyebe said the present administration under Gov. Ahmed Ododo, has keen interest in developing sporting activities in the state.
He, therefore encouraged the players to reciprocate government’s interest in them by rededicating themselves and work collectively to ensure success at the tournament.
Anyebe stressed that he accompanied the players to the tournament to show support and assure them of the governor’s commitment to sports development in the state..
The commissioner urged sports lovers in the state to give the needed support to the present administration of Alhaji Ahmed Ododo to succeed.
In the commissioner’s entourage was the Director Sports of the state Ministry, Mr. Ogazuma David; and Chairman Kogi United FC, Hon. Isah Dolly, among others.
The Edo Queens FC thrashed Confluence Queens 5-1 in the first game of the tournament on Saturday in Yenagoa.
The 2024 NWFL Premiership Super Six include: Edo Queens,, Confluence Queens, Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and Heartland Queens.
