Candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 Kogi governorship election, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, has congratulated the people of the state on the New Year celebrations.
In a statement on Monday, Ajaka said the new year, 2024, holds high hopes of great developments in the lives of the citizens of Kogi state.
He stated that the new year offers new hope for justice and democracy.
“As we draw the curtain on the year 2023 with all its artificially orchestrated disappointments in our expectations, we have renewed aspiration as a people to look forward to a new year that will usher in the restoration of justice and righteousness in the democracy of our country and state.
“Our people must keep faith in the ability of our great nation and it’s institutions to self regulate and arrive at solutions to problems that may challenge and threaten our collective confidence in our system,” he said.
Ajaka noted that 2024 will indeed be a year that will resolve the apprehensions and anxieties ignited by the events of the expired year, hopefully in a manner that will satisfy the tenets of justice, good conscience and the hopes and aspirations of Kogites.
He appealed to the people of Kogi State to remain law abiding and peaceful “notwithstanding the outcome of the intractable challenges to our democracy and cohesion as a people – as we await the institutional determination of our consolidated concerns in the integrity of our system.”
