Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja has lamented that despite being genuinely blessed by God with enviable human and material resources, Nigeria is still in dire need of deliberate leadership to harness these potentials.

Speaking at the official launch of Bello Ambassadors Network (BAN) in Abuja on Saturday, Onoja said the continued clarion calls by Nigerians for Governor Yahaya Bello to join the 2023 presidential race is not surprising.

Onoja described Governor Bello as a “young and successful individual who has achieved tremendous feats in academics, entrepreneurship and marital life which cements his antecedents of leadership by first-hand knowledge and experience.”

“For one, he has exemplified his role as Chief Security Officer of Kogi State by grounding crime and unabated insecurity which typically plagues the country. Over the years, I have grown to know him as not only a detribalised individual, but also a visionary whose zero tolerance for religious bigotry, ethnicity and class divides are worthy of emulation.

“He has been breaking age long chains of ethno-religious barriers and replacing them with bridges of synergy, respect and mutual respect in our dear State,” he said.

Chief Onoja praised the brain behind the creation of the Bello Ambassadors Network, describing it as timely.

“I also appreciate the birth of the Bello Ambassadors Network and its vision to propagate the lofty strides of Governor Bello. It tells greatly of the realization of our teeming youths to become part of the drive for purposeful representation on the national scale and I find it commendable,” he said.

Chief Onoja, however, admonished the Network to stretch its target of 5 million members further.

He stated that the future of the country rests on the shoulders of young individuals who form the critical mass of the country’s population.

Earlier, National Co-ordinator of the Network, Anthony Edogbo, explained that the creation of the Network is born out of the need to reduce the knowledge gaps and sell the potentials of Governor Yahaya Bello across borders.

He noted the Network is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission thus operates as legal outfit.
