It bleeds my heart each time I hear or read, that competence should be given priority over and above zoning of political offices. I am strongly not in support of that position.
Zoning or rotational presidency is a convention adopted by the two major political parties – the APC and PDP, and It will interest those pushing for competence above the already accepted convention that all the sections of this country have very competent persons with character and capacity to pilot the affairs of this nation to prosperity and greatness.
It will interest us further to know that the founders of this Democracy in 1998, discovered that the only unifying force in the Nigeria political space is a Rotational presidency arrangement and that is the best way to go and for the good of this country.
It is very sad to know that from 1999 to date, the South East and North Central have not produced President and Vice, as the highest political position these region have produced is the office of the Senate President. What an injustice!
I will suggest that come 2023, the Geopolitical zones of South East and North Central be considered for the office of President and Vice or vice versa, to allow for the principle of Equity, Justice and fairness to trive, as National character representation is vital for the stability of our dear country, Nigeria.
