2023: Kogi Speaker Joins House of Reps Race

Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole has officially joined the 2023 House of Representatives race in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency seat.

Kolawole declared intention to contest for reps seat during an empowerment programme for widows, widowers and ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba on Sunday.

He promised to provide qualitative representation at the national level.

Kolawole explained that the need to provide quality representation motivated his decision to join the race, stressing that he has gathered enough experience as a two term state lawmaker.

“I have been in the House of Assembly for a couple of years now and it is my intention to run for Federal House of Representatives to representing the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu under APC come 2023.”

“I have spent the last 7 years in providing skill acquisition for my constituents with several empowerment. If given the mandate, I will use the position to do more to affect lives of the down trodden.

“While in the State House of Assembly, I have used my office to facilitate employment, we have facilitated projects to the constituency, provision of boreholes, youth Empowerment, rural electrification, skill ccquisition and so on. If given the opportunity to represent my people, I intend to do more,” he said.

The Speaker added that despite being favoured as consensus candidate, he is ready for an open contest as he is confident of winning the ticket which ever format the party adopted to produce a candidate.

On the widows empowerment programme, the Speaker said it was organised in remembrance of his late mother and wife.
