The Joint leadership of labour unions in Kogi State under the aegis of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, Nigerian Union of Teachers, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria and the Non-Teaching Staff Union has endorsed Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims for a second term in office.
Hon. Halims who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development represents Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and is seeking re-election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
While debriefing the various union leaders at an enlarged labour leaders’ interface with the federal lawmaker at the Labour House in Ankpa, Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Hon. Onuh Edoka commended the stewardship of Hon. Halims in the period under review.
The labour leader who was an aspirant for the same position at the build up to the primary election revealed that he stepped down his ambition for Hon. Halims on the basis of superior advice and conviction that the serving member has enormous capacity to consolidate on his current gains at the House of Representatives.
He added that save for the administrative prudence and high regards of Hon. Halims for the labour, he wouldn’t have identified them as a worthy strategic partner and promised that the labour union will mobilize their members across the three Local Government Areas of Halims’ jurisprudence to massively vote for him.
On his part, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Dr. Tom Abutu noted that as comrades, the labour is bound by their words as he gave every assurance that Hon. Halims will enjoy a seamless support from every organ of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress before and after the February 25th election.
Responding, Hon. Halims renewed his commitment to positive representation and thanked the labour unions for their steadfastness in upholding their roles in society building. He added that as a graduate of political science, his deep understanding of labour and industrial relations is his driving force in regarding the various labour unions which he vowed will always be part of his stewardship.
