As Nigerians prepare for the next general elections, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has urged Nigerians to vote credible Leaders, who are ready to add value to the governance of the country.

National Coordinator of the Group, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu made the call at the  023 Election Sensitization and Awareness Conference organized by CNG, North Central held in Lokoja on Monday with the theme: “Politics of Sentiments, A Critical Factor Militating Development and Democracy in Nigeria.”

According to  him, “We must vigilantly subject every candidate to critical scrutiny by demanding from him a comprehensive plan of action and extracting solid commitment to reverse the situation for the better.”

He further states that “We must never again allow religious, regional or ethnic Sentiments to becloud our senses of reasoning in the choice of those who lead us into the future. We should rather place competence, capacity and integrity above every other secondary consideration.”

The National Coordinator also states that “the crux of the matter is that electorates must map out their needs and refuse to be deceived by just any politician coming with the usual campaign promises that would ever ever be fulfilled.”

Earlier, the North Central Coordinator of CNG, Comrade Mohammed Eneji said the Coalition Groups consist of 52 Northern Interest Groups coming together to promote unity and good governance.

Comrade Eneji pointed out that the time has come for electorate to elect credible leaders regardless religion and ethnic backgrounds, particularly those with the interest of Nigeria.
