2019: PDP Chieftain Urges Members to Unite in Kogi

The Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi West Senatorial District, Barr. Taiwo Kola-Ojo has appealed to all stakeholders and members of the party to unite to ensure the party bounces back to power come 2019.

In a statement issued yesterday in Lokoja, Barr. Kola-Ojo said the final resolution of the PDP’s protracted internal crisis by the Supreme Court verdict should be consolidated upon for better outings in future elections.

He enjoined the party to consolidate on the Supreme Court’s victory by embarking on political resolutions through genuine reconciliation of all aggrieved persons.

This, he believed, will enable the party play its proper role as a virile and credible opposition as well as position the party to take back it’s lost glory.

The PDP chieftain, who commended party members in Kogi West for their steadfastness and oneness throughout the period of dispute, urged all members of the party to embrace best practices at all levels to avoid a replay of grave internal crisis in the future.

He however condemned the actions of some elected lawmakers on the platform of the party who defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on grounds of division within the PDP.

Meanwhile, the State Chapter of the party said it will set up a committee to work out a template for reconciliation of its members that are reconcilable.

This was part of resolutions reached after its executive committee meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja on Monday.

State Publicity of the party, Mr Bode Ogunmola, said the meeting also resolved “to put in more effort on our youth and women mobilisation as well as prepare and brief stakeholders on modalities for ward and local government congresses.

The executive committee also thanked supporters and well wishers, security operatives and particularly the judiciary for saving the nation’s democracy in the recent judgement that gave power back to the people.
