I am writing this with mixed feelings. We started a project with the belief of winning the Yagba Federal House of Representatives seat. Our supporters were fanatical, vociferous and determined to give Yagba a sound voice in the House of Representatives. It was an optimistic political voyage.
To those supporters, I owe you everything and I am impressed by your show of love and solidarity; your undying determination to see us succeed just because you believe in me. We will discontinue the immediate ambition but we shall never discontinue our association and togetherness. You will always be dear to me.
Now to my Boss and Mentor; the Executive Governor of Kogi State, you remain my hero of hope, a galvanizing force that has changed destinies. I will forever be grateful and loyal to your uncommon leadership principles.
I owe this withdrawal to my determination to support my party and my boss without the distraction of contesting as a person. It was taken after reconsideration of my expected role in the build up to the general elections. It will be selfish to allow my ambition derail the support I could give to my party and my leader, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello. I take this decision in order to continue to serve my boss and to continue my loyalty to the New Direction ideology.
Let me thank my leader, Asiwaju Idris Ashiru who has been very supportive of my decisions. I owe you my support always.
My sincere gratitude to my colleagues in the New Direction Family, friends and families who have invested their resources to make the project a reality. I urge you all to transfer such support to my leader, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello and our party, the All Progressives Congress to which I am irrevocably committed.
Let me also thank Elder Joseph Olojo and the entire APC structure in Yagba Federal Constituency and Takete Ide / Otafun Ward as a whole. May God reward your labour of love and dedication. One of the reasons I stepped down is to continue to play my leadership role in the Ward and to also be part of the solution rather than confusion.
We must remain steadfast as a people and as a party. We must remain united, forgive the past and reconcile all aggrieved members. I know our opponents are afraid that we are reconciling party members. No one can win against a united force.
To all who have supported me, I remain eternally grateful. We shall come back stronger and better in the future.
To all my brothers in the race, you can always count on my support in the spirit of uplifting our party and making it unbeatable in the 2019 general elections.
I know the emotions of our teeming supporters are high. That was why I didn’t consult too many people before arriving at this conclusion to selflessly pull out of the House of Representatives race. We will continue to keep the family across Yagba Federal Constituency. We remain solidly behind the Governor and our dear party.
God bless you all abundantly.
