Unarguably, Kogi State civil servants remain one of the most dedicated, resilient and hardworking in the country. They remain a key driver of the State’s multi-facet development despite the challenges they face.

Workers represent the mainstay in our economy because without them, there could be no economic activity of any kind whether online or offline, digital or manual.

Our Workers play crucial roles in all we attain as a State or nation and that fact needs to be recognized always.

I therefore appeal to Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello to pay all workers’ outstanding salaries as they have been largely reduced to paupers and medicants who can no longer provide for their families.

The 2019 Workers’ Day is an opportunity for your administration to right the wrongs by paying ALL outstanding salaries and pensions viewed by many as a fiendish and vindictive attempt by your government to weaken the growing frustrated civil servants.

Do not let posterity remember your government as an unscrupulous one which served to alienate the civil service and sink the State into depths of despair and melancholy. The world is watching!!!

Furthermore, I urge our workers to defend our democracy by standing against intimidation, oppression, incessant constitutional violation interference and invasion of the Legislature and the Judiciary, persecution and harassment of opposition and lack of transparency in the system.

On this Workers Day 2019 celebration, I salute Kogi State Civil Servants and Nigerian Workers at large for their sacrifice and resilience in the face of dwindling economic fortunes.

Happy Workers’ Day 2019
