Sunday 29th July, 2018 is a day not to be forgotten soon by the people of Omala and it’s environs as the Chairman of the Kogi State Elders Advisory Committee for Ankpa Federal constituency, Hon Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims stormed the local government headquarters with his entourage to formally declare his intention to contest as member representing Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala federal constituency come 2019.
Hon Halims, a former member representing Ankpa I constituency at the Kogi state house of assembly was received by a mammoth crowd led by the administrator of Omala local government area, Hon Aboh Ibrahim, members of the local government administrative committee, past and serving state/local government/party hierarchies as well as supporters and lovers of the declaring Honorable.
And, on his entourage were the honorable member representing Ankpa II constituency at the Kogi state house of assembly, Hon Alhaji Alfa Momoh Rabiu, Kogi East Chairman of The State Elders Advisory Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Linco, Ankpa local government APC Chairman, Hon Abdullahi Zakari, Hon Emmanuel Okeme and a host of others.
While declaring his intent, Hon Halims took time to enumerate the potentials of Ankpa federal constituency narrowing down to the rich agricultural and entrepreneurship prospects of Omala which he promised to harness if elected. He further thanked the people for the support he has always enjoyed from them in all his contest urging them to pray and support his candidature as time has come for a divine victory.
Various dignitaries who made separate remarks expressed their confidence in Hon Halims relying on his antecedents at the Kogi state house of assembly cum global exposure as a guarantor of his ability to restore premier leadership to the area.
Earlier, while asking for prayers and supports, Hon Halims lamented his displeasure at the status of the area stewardship which he vowed to lift a quo if elected as he went on the highlight some of his manifesto which centred on erudite legislation, open door policies, social development and advancement of the areas heritages.
Whereas the tenure of Hon Halims at the Kogi state house of assembly for a single term of four years was marked with unprecedented human and infrastructural developments, highlight of the day was echo of solidarity voices which in its unison all expressed a common resolve to elect Hon Halims.
It will be recalled that the successful business man turned politician had on Friday earlier made a dual declaration at Olamaboro and Ankpa respectively. Hence, with his Omala declaration, all is set for him to kick-start jostling for the APC ticket which major political pundits suggests to be mostly likely possessed by him.
