Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Kehinde Oloruntoba has called on youths in Lokoja to vote all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Oloruntoba made the call the first Lokongoma Youth Day celebration in Lokoja on Saturday.
He enjoined youths of the community to shun thuggery and drug abuse. He admonished them to get their permanent voters cards (PVCs) ready and intact to vote in the candidates of APC at all levels to continue the good works of remaking this country.
He said “going back to Egypt” should not be an option on the table for any reasonable Nigerian because of the history of where the nation has been before.
“The only way to sustain the good works Mr. President is doing is to dust off your PVCs and vote him back as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and President Federal Republic of Nigeria, vote in other APC candidates to create a synergy for equal, mutual and common development of the country,” he said.
He emphasized the need to rally round Government in support and encouragement to attract democratic dividends to the community.
In his words: “You must support government to support your community because you cannot be pulling government down and expect attention from them. It is only in supporting government you can attract and facilitate concrete government’s presence to your community.”
The Lokongoma Youth Day Celebration held on the 29th December, 2018 was the first in the history of the community and was put together by an emerging youth group, Lokongoma Youth Drive Association.
The organisers promised to make the Youth Day celebration an annual event in the community.
The event which witnessed huge turnout had in attendance Comr. Ndalayi Suleiman, Chairman of Kogi SUBEB who was Special Guest of honour, Chief of Elete, the Chief of Lokongoma Community, the Bajana of Obajana, women and youth groups, NYCN Chairman, youth leaders and stakeholders.
Comr. Ndalayi told the youths that they are on the right course and that is why he is throwing his weight and support behind them. He promised to continue his support so long the association continues to stay true to its founding principles.
