2008 Staff Audit: Court Adjourned Kogi, Workers Case

The Kogi State High Court, sitting in Okene has adjourned to March 28, the case between the state government and civil servants whose appointments were terminated during the staff audit carried out in 2008.

The former civil servants had dragged the state government to court after they were sacked during the screening exercise instituted by former governor Ibrahim Idris.

They had prayed the court to reinstate them, saying they were illegally sacked The court in 2012 had ruled in favour of the workers by saying that they were illegally sacked and ordered that they be reinstated and paid their salaries till date, but the government declined.

But the workers, through their counsel, Barrister, John Barry went back to the court seeking an order to compel the state government to comply with the order but the state later appealed against the judgment at the Appeal Court in Abuja.
