200 Women Farmers Benefit from Entrepreneurship Training in Kogi

The Kogi State Chapter of Women in Agriculture Cooperative Federation (WIACF) in collaboration with Youth for Technology Foundation commenced the training of 200 women farmers on entrepreneurship programme.

Speaking during the commencement of the training in Lokoja, the president of WIACF Mrs Esther Audu, said the women who were selected across the 21 local government areas of the state would be trained in wholesale and retail, light manufacturing and social services.

“WIA-CF has the mandate to promote economic, social and educational interest of women farmers in the state. We also collaborate with non-governmental organisations and government agencies in the implementation of agricultural policies and programmes. We encourage large scale commercial farming with strategic linkages to small holder women farmers and our organisation source for soft loans for members.”

She explained that the training was expected to expose the women to soap making, plastics, block fabricating, bread baking, day care, social work and charity work among others.
