The Nigerian Police Force, Kogi State Command, have arrested a 17 year old boy, Goodness Oshodi, who buried his step brother, Friday Oshodi alive on the instruction of his mother for stealing N10,000 belonging to her.

The incident happened at Apamisede, a suburb of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Tuesday.

The boy was, however, lucky as passersby were still able to exhume him alive.

When Goodness was asked why he decided to bury his brother alive, he said that he was only carrying out the instructions of his mother who asked him to punish his brother for stealing her money.

Goodness said though his mother was away to church, she left strong instructions for him to punish his brother.

The state police spokesman, SP William Aya who confirmed the incident, said Goodness has been arrested and undergoing interrogation.

“Yes, we are aware. The boy has been arrested, investigation is ongoing as to why and how such thing could happened.

“The victim is seven years old. Information at our disposal revealed that the victim used to steal. When he stole money, he ran away from the house, but later came back.

“When he came back, he stole another money again. So, the mother instructed his elder brother who is a 17-year-old boy to punish him. So, the brother went ahead to dig the ground to punish him. So, they just want to deal with him, before some nearby neighbours discover what was happening and rescued him,” he said.

Aya said the brother went and dug a pit and buried his younger brother alive.
