Eleven people died yesterday while three others sustained serious injuries in an accident that occurred at Offejiji village along Ankpa-Anyigba road in Kogi State.
A witness said the accident occurred at about 6am, when one of the vehicle heading towards Anyigba overtook another vehicle dangerously and in the process collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Safety Commission (FRSC) Olakunle Motajo, who confirmed the accident, blamed it on dangerous overtaking on the part of the drivers and called on motorists to change their altitudes while on the road.
He said the accident involved a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number LG 46 BG and a Blue truck with registration number BLG 76 XA respectively.
He said the injured victims have been taken to Grimmard Hospital at Anyigba, while the corpses were deposited at the same hospital’s mortuary.
