A socio-political organization, Kogi Democratic Group (KDG) has accused Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the re-arrest and continued detention of critic, Comrade Austin Okai.
In statement signed by the group’s information officer, Abdulsalam Rahman, KDG said Okai is being incarcerated because of his advocacy for the welfare of Kogi citizens, particularly civil servants and pensioners.
Abdulsalam alleged that Governor Bello and his officials have complex problems when it comes to criticisms.
“The current administration of Yahaya Bello has adopted autocracy as a style of governance. Despite all forms of anti-people and corrupt ridden activities, the government want to have a 24-7 praise-singing from Kogites.
“As a group, we will continue to tackle the rot in this government. We will not be deterred by their provocation and connivance with security agents to detain well meaning citizens illegally. The wicked detention of Austin Okai will not dampen our spirit.
“No sane society, aside sycophants with sycophantic tendencies, will fold its arms and watch the rot, anomaly and illegalities been perpetrated by Yahaya Bello, ” he said.
Abdulsalam demand that Okai be released without further delay.
