Gov. Bello Approves fund for Empowerment of 12,000 Youths Through World Bank Established Single Register

Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has approved fund for the immediate engagement of 12,000 youths across the state using the World Bank established single register.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris during the occasion of the 5th Community Based Targeting (CBT) Team and Enumerators Training.

While declaring the 5th CBT/SR exercise for the 7 Local Government open on behalf of Governor Yahaya Bello, Asiru cautioned all the Local Government CBT team members and enumerator to follow the world Bank guideline and the training details for effective capturing of the poor and vulnerable in the State.

“You are all aware that Kogi State is leading in Social Protection in Nigeria and that was why the DR-Congo came to Kogi State to understudy our operation. You are therefore expected to maintain the tempo of progress in the state in the interest social inclusion and growth,” he said.

He further lauded the achievement of Alhaji Yahaya Bello’’s administration in ensuring that life becomes meaningful for ordinary Kogi man, adding that with the support the current administration, Kogi State YESSO has performed creditably by ensuring that all the World Bank guidelines and procedures are logically followed.

In his welcome address, The Kogi State YESSO Coordinator, Dr. Noah Alilu commended the State Government for supporting the poor and vulnerable youth in Kogi State exemplified by the prompt response to the full implementation of YESSO in Kogi State.

Also present at the occasion was the Mr. Paul Maiwada, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning who also commended YESSO for making Kogi proud on global map of social protection initiative.

At the occasion also was the Special Adviser to Governor, Office of the SSG.

However, the ceremony was a training organized by World Bank to train community based targeting (CBT) team from seven LGAs of Ankpa, Idah, Olamaboro, Ajaokuta, Okehie, Ijumu, Kogi and Yagba-East.

Also, the digital enumerator to use the computer aided personal interview (CAPI) model were put through the process. The real exercise of community capture shall commence in the mentioned LGAs in the first week of 2019.
