The recent classification of Kogi state as worst case scenario by the national leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has vindicated our struggle for good governance.

Comrade Austin Okai made this known in reaction to the recent press statement by NLC on states owing salaries despite receiving bailout funds.

Okai said the rating by NLC has further proved that his repeated criticism of Yahaya Bello-led government is not sectional or to score cheap political points.

He reaffirmed ‎his determination to continue to fight for the masses and the welfare of Kogi workers at all levels “until their legitimate entitlements diverted into private pockets are released to them”.

Okai stated that two major events has confirmed that Kogi State is set for a mojor setback in yeras to come; the high profile trial of Kogi state government by the anti graft agency, the EFCC, and the latest declaration of the NLC.

He said a government that has exposed itself to such a ridiculous insolvency in the midst of plenty, both to financial  institutions and the federal government, will need magic to ‎run the state based on best practices.

Buttressing the ‘Worst Case Scenario’‎ status, the social crusader said, “how can a government that cannot account for bailout fund of N20 billion,Paris Club refund, infrastructure fund in billions, refused to pay workers salaries for upward of 20 months and pensioners entitlements see the light of the day?

“We urge the anti graft agency to as a matter of genuine concern help us to recover the ill-gotten commonwealth of Kogi that had found its ways into private pockets. Acquired properties and assets from the proceeds adorn everywere for all to see”

He called on the Yahaya Bello-led government to pay kogi workers and pensioners as the ghost of non payment of the legitimate entitlements will continue to haunt his inhuman administration.
