With immense gratitude, let me use this opportunity to register my heart-felt gratitude and sincere appreciation to my Governor and my local Government administrator, Alhaji Yahaha Bello and Hon. Abuh Sule Egibiti of Ofu local Government and kogi State, Nigeria, for their positive transformation of Ofu local Government.
Over the years, Ofu local government had suffered long period of government neglect. The presence of government was not felt at all as the age long problems of lack of good road, water, electricity, and health facilities among other basic social amenities continue to plague Ofu local Government. People of the land have on their own been engaging in community self-help projects.
As a result of the long time neglect, there were insinuations such as no good road could ever come to Ofu. No one knew that this assertion was held simply because the past governments decided to deliberately neglect this area. Many people have suffered the consequences of lack of accessible road and many have passed on with the question: “When will Ejule-Idah road ever have an accessible road?”
The past governments have played series of politics with the construction of accessible road network in ejule-idah road. They sought for the votes of Ofu people; they got the votes but did not fulfill their promises. The people of ofu were perplexed but not despair until when God in His infinite mercies sent in Governor Yahaha Bello and Hon Abu egbiti.
It is true as further proven by my governor that when the right person rules the people rejoice. The way and manner in which alhaji Yahaha Bello came to power shows he was and he is still God-sent. There was clear evidence beyond all reasonable doubts that God’s hand was at work because he lost during the primary but God providentially returned it to him being the rightful owner.
To the best of my knowledge based on available records and facts on ground, Yahaha Bello transformation of Kogi State is unprecedented in the history of kogi State governorship administration. His good deeds speak volumes for him. He came in and met a lot of wrongs in government he proceeded to discontinue such wrongs. One of his legacies that liberated him as a governor and liberated the entire kogi State from the shackle of cabalnocracy in kogi State was his policy of OPERATION NO TO GODFATHERISM. Unlike, the previous governors who used kogi State’s funds to reimburse their godfathers, Bello in his own God-given wisdom identified this cankerworm that had eaten deep into the fabric of kogi State politics which made kogi State to suffer from the shackle of poverty and underdevelopment and said an emphatic no to the devilish and unprogressive practice of godfatherism that was the order of the day in loving State’s politics. This decision of Yahaha bello was, and is still a step in the new direction.
The positive impacts of Bello’s policy of no to godfatherism in kogi State cannot be underestimated, using ejule-roads as a case study. The entire people of ofu local Government are unanimously saying thank you to Yahaha Bello for the road project he has vigorously commenced in the local Government.
Sincerely speaking, giving the previous prevailing conditions in ofu and kogi State in general during the period of the past governments, ofu people least anticipated what they are seeing on ground now from Yahaha bello and Hon Ebgiti . People concluded that ejule -idah road cannot be better again . However, the coming of Yahaha Bello has made us to believe further that there is time for everything; God does not forget His people; God’s time is the best and that God uses people to liberate people. To us, the people of ofu and kogi State in general, Yahaha Bello is God-sent. He is really the right person simply because he makes us to exceedingly rejoice as we have never done before. His actions as a governor show that there are still trustworthy people, there are still people who keep promises and people who have the interest of the masses at heart. Nobody who knows ejule-idah road before, who now sees the road network currently under construction that will not pray fervently for the governor; even his enemies, whether they like it or not, would have to reluctantly congratulate him for his conspicuous projects in ofu and kogi State in general! His performances in ofu and kogi State as a whole are real evidences of service to humanity.
I would want to use this opportunity to appeal to my divinely-empowered governor to please endeavour to complete this road project in ejule-idah road and also tackle other problems of of such as water and health facilities among others. Without my being selfish, let me also appeal to my Excellency to please endeavor to spread this dividence of democracy to all previously neglected quarters and to other areas in kogi State as a whole in the spirit of maximum spatial justice so that all parts of kogi State will benefit from this positive wind of change brought by Yahaha Bello New Direction in kogi State.
Always remember the policy you started with, that is: “OPERATION NOTHING FOR GOD-FATHERS”. This policy worked for you and is still working. So please maintain, retain and sustain it as we get ready to empower you for the second tenure.
With your positive and unprecedented transformation of Ofu and kogi State in its entirety, we shall continue to pray, campaign and support you in your ambition by His grace. You need to maintain this positive status quo you are already known with and also improve on it. No doubt, your developmental projects in loving State will go before you, speak for you before man and God. A child who washes his hands well eats with elders. You have done well and you have also washed your hands well. legacy extension and completion, and making an enduring and positive mark in the anal of history of ofu local Government and kogi State in general. You have not disappointed us in any way rather you have made us proud. This necessitates this thank you message. More power to your elbow my governor with positive difference. The governor among governors!
