Olamaboro Community Petitions IG Over Closure of Police Station

The people of Ette community in Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi State trooped to Abuja on Wednesday to protest the closure of the divisional police office in the area.

They appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to reopen the in the area.

The spokesman of the protesters, Mike Alih, said the divisional police office was withdrawn on August 28, 2014 when hoodlums attacked officers.

Alih said attacks by hoodlums had displaced the people of the community before the United Nations Human Rights Office intervened.

He said the community had written series of petitions to the Office of the IGP between August 2014 and July 2017 without any response.
