PRESS STATEMENT

Concerned Youth under the PDP Youth Network is constrained to align herself with the position of our highly reverend elders of the party on their recent endorsement of Governor Idris Wada led administration as the consensus candidate of our party.

We recall the abysmal outing of the PDP in the last presidential election where Kogi had to replace three (3) PDP Senators with APC and going ahead to lose the presidential election with a wide margin ever.

These developments therefore necessitate an overhauling of all PDP structure in Kogi State according to democratic norms and a frantic effort put in place for the most popular aspirants to be thrown up via a keenly contested primary election thereby changing a poorly performing governor in the end if the delegate so decided.

These leaders have not been sincere in their endorsement as every pointer shows they are working for the collapse of PDP in Kogi State and .indirectly working for APC in an attempt to align themselves with the Federal Centre.

Recall most of these leaders just lost their polling units up to the wards and yet they do not want to change strategy.

We therefore call the attention of PDP NWC to as a matter of urgency to ensure that the party guidelines for the conduct of credible primary to put in place with an objective of retaining Kogi beyond 2016.

A brief look back at the performance of most of the elders at the march 28 presidential election was abysmal and below average.

For the avoidance of doubt, Kogi people are all working for an alternative to the incumbent Governor but should PDP insist on Wada’s candidature, then we will accept their supremacy and pray while we wait for the judgment of the electorate which be supreme in the end.

Since the imposition of Governor Wada ahead of other credible aspirants in 2011/2012, all has not been well with Kogi State now coupled with the dwindling allocation nationwide.

We need to win Kogi with an acceptable candidate. We need a candidate that will appeal to our generation.

We are yet to see the effect of the bond collected on behalf of the State as we decry the debt burden it represents to future generation contrary to the opinion of our elder.

To this end, we wish his Excellency Alh Idris Wada luck in the next primary, just as we wish other aspirants same luck as we look forward to an improved PDP legacy in our dear State.

We encourage credible Kogites from all walks of life to join the race as we work round the clock to keep Kogi PDP, united and prosperous.
