The leadership of Kogi state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence of the leadership of the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Eleven members of the APC executives in the state referred to as ‘home-based executives’ passed the confidence vote at an emergency state executive meeting in Lokoja on Monday.

The party leaders said the vote of confidence on Governor Bello was premised on his sterling performance in office since January 2016. They mentioned the Lokoja township street lights, construction of the new revenue house, fight against insecurity and road projects across the three senatorial districts in the state as enough reasons to give the governor maximum support.

The communique issued at the end of the emergency executive meeting was signed by John Anjorin, the Kogi APC Acting Secretary; Hajia Rabi Haruna, Kogi APC Women Leader; Barr. Bala Adukwu, the Assistant State Legal Adviser and eight others.

The party leaders advised “visiting indigene politicians to come down to the state and see wonderful performance of His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello barely one and half years in office.”

They frowned at a recent publication in the Nation Newspaper of 7th July 2017 by a group which calls itself leader of Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC). They described the group as diaspora politicians based in Abuja.

“On the so-called purported harassment of Senator Dino Melaye who is currently facing constitutional recall process by his Kogi west people who voted him to the senate, it is entirely an intra-political problem between him and his constituent. His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello should therefore be left out of this political logjam.

“We are not therefore surprised with the attitude of the diaspora politicians who are supporting Senator Dino Melaye’s malicious confrontation with the state government, after-all, it is said that birds of the same feather flock together.

“The leadership of our great party APC could not be pushed into taking hasty decision on the sensitive political issue cum Abuja based self-style acclaimed leaders of our great party APC to be patient and wait for the decision of the National Headquarters on this vital issue.

“Since Alh. Haddy Ametuo the erstwhile state chairman and his cohorts have decided not to have anything to do with His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello in one of their press releases on the 16th April 2016, where they passed a purported vote of no confidence on his Excellency, Ah. Yahaya Bello, they are therefore not expected to see anything good in his administration.

“The constitution of our great party states clearly that the Governor of a state remains the leader of our great party, therefore we are solidly behind His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello and his Administration”, the communique reads.
