Member representing Ajaokuta Federal constituency, Hon. Lawal Idirisu, has assured residents in Eganyi and Ajaokuta districts of steady power supply.

Lawal gave the assurance during his 2017 empowerment programme and review of his scorecard in Ajaokuta on Sunday.

He stated that all issues affecting regular power supply in the area has been resolved.

“You will recall that I earlier mobilized the contractor for the electrification project of Eganyi and Ebiya districts before I started facing some challenges and later paid for the restoration of electricity from Osara to the two(2) districts to ameliorate their sufferings which they enjoyed for sometime before the disagreement on tariff.

“Following the recent resolution between the Administrator of Ajaokuta Local Government (Hon. Mustapha Akaba) and my humble self, the remaining impediments hindering the completion of the project has been removed. Therefore, I want to assure you that in few days our good people in the two(2) districts shall have cause to smile with steady power supply.

“We have provided solar-powered streetlights in both Ajaokuta and Eganyi districts and work is still ongoing,” he said.

Lawal recalled his achievements in office in the last two and half years as a Federal lawmaker.

He stated that he has spent about N2.8million on women empowerment alone within the period under review.

Other achievements include provision of portable water, roads rehabilitation, bursary award to students in various institution of higher learning, free medical outreaches to aid capital-intensive eye treatments, provision of 10 canoes and 1000 bundles of fishing nets for fishermen in the constituency.

He noted that his constituency projects are in tandem with Governor Yahaya Bello’s five thematic areas of development. He expressed special gratitude to the Kogi State Governor for “his strategic support”.

To mark his 2017 empowerment programme, the Federal lawmaker distributed tricycles (Keke NAPEP), motorcycles, pumping machines, vulcanizing machines, sewing machines and hair dressing machines to carefully selected constituents as self-sustaining tools.

Other tools distributed include electricity generating machines, grinding machine, deep freezers among others.
