As all roads will witness heavy movement by the users in this yuletide period, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC has enjoined both drivers and commuters to abide by the rules guiding the roads to avoid being charged to law court and reduce road accidents.
The Corps Marshall of the FRSC, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi gave the charge today in Lokoja, Kogi State during a sensitization and surveillance visit on the need to avoid more accidents.
Mr.Oyeyemi said the FRSC is charged with the responsibility of managing the roads to avoid clashes just as he maintained that all hands must be on deck to achieve reduction in over-speeding, overloading and wrongful overtaking.
While noting that the mobile court of the corps is all over the country to try road users found wanting in excess driving and over loading, he called on the drivers to abide by the rules.
“We are on area surveillance, then this is Christmas period and the traffic is heavy, so we are doing our normal patrol, and with the area surveillance, we have been able to see where we have problem We had a problem clashes in Koton-karfe earlier today, that has caused gridlock, but the road users are complying with us; I believe traffic will reduce soon,” begin Oyeyemi.
The mobile court we promised Nigerians has take off with tremendous activities, that, coupled with our area surveillance has helped us a lot to reduced accidents on the road, so the mobile court will deal with those found wanting using the roads and sent them to prison according to the law of Federal Republic of Nigeria because all these excess luggage and over loading is barbaric despite the campaigns.

Oyeyemi added that the FRSC had put various strategies in place to curtail the excesses on the road by the users.
“We are not only operating on day time, we operate at night, we have our standby response unit, we have started the end of the year campaign and we want to assure the public that there will always be feasibility of our personnel, prompt rescue and having ambulances ready at all time, so I think we are better equipped and I want to thank the governments for their supports towards this.
Senior Magistrate at the Zariagi mobile court, Muhammed Yakubu disclosed that the crime of excesses on the road has reduced with the help of mobile court as the users are complying strictly with the FRSC.
He said 32 drivers have been brought before the magistrate and have complied with the charges leveled against them.
