Almost two years into his tenure as member representing Lokoja I constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Umar Ahmed Imam, a youth group, Concerned Lokoja Youth Development Movement, has given him a vote of confidence and urge thrown their weight behind him for continuity.
The group made this known to journalists in Lokoja at a press conference where secretary to the body, Comrade Yakubu Abubakar stated that they are satisfied with quality of representation from the Speaker of the state legislature.
To the group, there is no vacancy in Lokoja I constituency, even in the next election in 2019, as Rt. Hon Imam has demonstrated capacity to give quality representation to his people, hence their conviction to back him.
In Comrade Abubakar’s words; There is no doubt that the Speaker, since his assumption of office and subsequent emergence as the head of the state legislature, has demonstrated capacity and passion to affect the lives of the people of his constituency positively.
“Recall that through his skills acquisition programme, RHAISAEP, several youths have been empowered with requisite abilities for exploring their overall potentials.
“The Concerned Lokoja Youth Development Movement (CLYDM) therefore reiterates its unflinching support for Imam as the right man to continue his great job of Representing the good peoples of Lokoja I constituency, even beyond 2019, said the Secretary.
The group said, it has carefully assessed the political ideology of the Kogi Assembly Speaker and his track record; his achievements and awards, coupled with the disposition that he maintains among several youths organizations and frontiers and arrived at the decision that he is impeccable competence.
They said they are endeared to Imams demonstrated commitment towards the welfare of the people of Lokoja, especially the downtrodden, who he has refused to forget in all his policies and programmes.
