The people of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency have made the right choice by electing former Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Hon Benjamin Ikani Okolo, to serve as House of Representatives member, says Kogi State Progressive Youth Movement.
The youth association alluded to this in a press statement made available to The Graphic by its Leader, Omachonu Godwin Shaibu, which maintained that the lawmaker-elect would be a vocal representative of the constituents.
The statement further opined that the electorate’s resolve “was predicated on the urgent need for change in the constituency which hitherto was left in the cold at National Assembly when other constituencies were celebrating their political grandeurs.”
It also affirmed that ‘’the last election provided the people the opportunity to break the cycle of low performance by Reps members from the constituency, but through Hon Ikani, the people will celebrate effective representation.’’
“Hon Benjamin Ikani Okolo, who was the Chairman of Dekina LGA, established an outstanding legacy in the administration of the third tier of government; a yardstick that has earned him the overwhelming victory in the 2015 House of Reps race,” the document recalled.
Described as “a progressive man by nature and one who has enviable track records,” the group also stated that the people had confidence that the House of Reps member-elect would advance their cause to realise the needed transformation in the constituency.
It, therefore, harped on the need for all and sundry, irrespective of their political affiliations, “to embrace the new wave of political consciousness in the entire constituency which rewards selfless service.”
