A prominent and foremost leader in All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West senatorial district, Dr. Toyin Akanle, has assured former opposition leaders in Yagba federal constituency who recently joined the ruling party that they made the right decision.

Recall that top leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yagba federal constituency announced their defection during a meeting with Hon James Faleke in Abuja on Saturday.

The defectors included a former member of House of Representatives, Hon. TJ Faniyi; a former Chairman of Yagba East LGA, Hon Salawudeen Ganiyu (Erukutu); Hon. Ojuola; Former House of Assembly member, Commodore Foluso Daniel (rtd); 2015 APC House of Reps candidate, Engr Kayode Adegbayo (Olomo); Hon. Ibrahim Taiwo; Maiyegun of Isanlu and ADC powerhouse, Chief Dare Maiyegun and Tunde Agbana, a former Kogi State PDP Assistant Treasurer.

Speaking with our reporter on Sunday, Dr Akanle congratulated the political leaders for taking the decision and assured they would not have reasons to regret their actions.

“I can confidently assure you all, that the present crop of APC leaders, will do everything possible to ensure that your decision is not regretted.

“You can, therefore, feel free because you will be fully integrated and accommodated in the scheme of things at all levels of the party’s structure.

“And per adventure there have been misgivings between us in the past; consider them as normal and not anything to loose sleep about. Such must have arisen because we were all doing what we could then, to ensure the electoral success of our various parties then.

“You should consider all that gone and a thing of the past. Now that we are all one, under the APC, we bury all hatchets; and work hard to bring more people to the fold of the Party,” he said.

Dr. Akanle expressed joy with the defectors, describing their actions as unique. He added that the defection was an indication that leaders are gradually coming out of the political trenches that have hitherto defined and separated them.
