Yomi Awoniyi Visits Kogi Indigenes Displaced by Flood in Enugu and Anambra Camps

Kogi State indigenes living in some communities in Enugu and Anambra States following their displacement by flood have been asked to return home as adequate measures to help rebuild their lives and homes have been put in place.

Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor stated this at Igah, Ogurugu, Ojoh and Atuoacha communities of Enugu and Anambra States today.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Arc Yomi Awoniyi, appealed for the return of those displaced,said the government is building low cost houses, providing farm inputs and improved seedlings to farmers and nets to fishermen,among other support to aid those affected.

The Governor described the concern in accommodating the displaced persons by both Enugu and Anambra States as encouraging of true neighboring  brothers,said the state government has put in place several medium and long term strategies to mitigate the loss faced by those affected.

Capt Wada commended the sacrifices made by the two State,said the flood aside displacing over 100,000 persons in the state, properties worth billions of naira he added were lost to the flood.

In their separate remarks, Chief Ogbali Maccilani of Oguragu, Fabian Eneanya of Odeke who spoke on behalf of the displaced persons thanked the various state governments for the love shown to them,describing the floods as a set back that will for long linger in their memories, however commended the assurances giving by the Kogi State Government through the various intervention schemes to help them in getting back on their feet.

Highlight of the visit by the State Governor was presentation of relief materials to the host communities and to the displaced persons.
