The recent video circulating in which former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is seen issuing threats to political opponents is deeply concerning and unacceptable in a democratic society.
It must be made clear that this is no longer your government. Even if many believe the current administration is politically aligned with you, the era of intimidation and coercion must end. Democracy thrives on dialogue, not threats.
Security agencies in Nigeria should carefully examine these utterances and the implications they carry. Statements capable of heating up the political environment should not be ignored. Such materials should be reviewed by the relevant authorities to ensure peace and stability in Kogi State.

The people of Ebiraland, particularly the youths, remain vigilant. Many have endured difficult times during past political crises and do not want a repeat of such experiences. What the people desire today is peace, fairness, and responsible leadership.
The good people of Okene, Adavi, Ajaokuta, and Ogori-Magongo will stand firmly behind any credible candidate that emerges from Okehi Local Government Area. If the All Progressives Congress truly believes in democracy, it should allow a free and transparent senatorial primary election.
This will give qualified aspirants such as Hon. Salihu AK, if he remains in the race, or Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro the opportunity to compete fairly. Otherwise, the party should also be prepared to face strong alternatives, including the possible return of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
After eight years of governance, many residents of Ebiraland still struggle with basic challenges such as lack of potable water, deteriorating primary school infrastructure, and a weakened education administration system. These are issues that deserve honest reflection and urgent attention.
Leadership must be about service, not intimidation. Power should not intoxicate those entrusted with it.
Security agencies should therefore pay close attention to political rhetoric capable of destabilizing the peace of the state.
Kogi deserves peace.
Ebiraland deserves development.
And our politics must move forward with responsibility.
