A socio-political group, Pan-Kogi Progressives, has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his balanced, and fair approach to governance in the state.

President of the group, Mr. Abraham Opaluwa, in a statement issued in Lokoja on Friday, said Governor Bello has given every tribe in the state a sense of belonging.

Opaluwa said the even distribution of projects and political appointments under Bello is unprecedented.

He stated that aside the major tribes in the state, Igala, Ebira and Okun, Governor Bello has ensured the ethnic minorities got adequate dividends of democracy.

He hailed Governor Bello’s commitment to peace in Bassa, his electrification and road projects in Ogori-Magongo and extensive power projects in Koton-Karfe axis of the western districts as pointers to his sense of equity, fairness and justice.

Opaluwa said the numerous erosion control intervention, road construction and electrification projects in Igala land, Omi Rice Mill in Okun land and Reference Hospital in Ebira land are landmark achievements of a pan-Kogi Governor.

“Truth be told, Governor Yahaya Bello will be leaving Igala land better than he met it by the time he is rounding up his second term in office next year.

“When he mooted the idea of a university in his senatorial district, some of us were worried because we thought he would abandon Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba. However, he has proved us wrong as the government is working hard to reposition the institution with a standard teaching hospital. His recent decision to establish another state-owned university in Okun land further confirmed that he is a right thinking administrator who is committed to give everybody a sense of belonging.

“Nonetheless, we wish to appeal to Governor Yahaya Bello to introduce special legislation that will guarantee accelerated development of Ibaji, the new oil producing community in the state. Also, he should revisit the planned construction of Idah-Agenebode bridge.

“Ebiras will be so ungrateful if they fail to acknowledge the significant projects executed by Governor Yahaya Bello in the area. Aside the reference hospital, he sited a full fledged university there and constructed more road in the area than any administration had done in the past. However, I will appeal to Governor Yahaya Bello to ensure he put an end to the perennial water scarcity in Ebira land before the expiration of his tenure.

“Okuns have never had it so good under any administration in the state. Governor Yahaya Bello established a multi-billion Naira rice mill and now a university in Okun land. These two will undoubtedly engineer rapid development in the area, long after Bello’s tenure,” he said.

Opaluwa called on the people of the state to continue to support the administration of Governor Bello and ensure the improved security in the state is not breached.
