Pressures are being mounted on the national leaders of Social Democratic Party (SDP) to upturn the primary election victory of Hon. Daniel Oluwafemi Iselaye and hand the ticket over to a weak aspirant as the House of Representatives candidate of the party for 2019 election.
The proposed fraud is being orchestrated by some desperate politicians who are bent on giving the party ticket to an aspirant that lost to Iselaye at the primary election.
There is palpable tension and apprehension amidst members and supporters of the Social Democratic Party in the federal constituency over the insistence and deliberate delay by national leaders of the party to release certificate of return to the winner of the party primary election and its flag bearer, Hon. Iselaye who emerged victorious in a free and fair primary election recently conducted Isanlu, Yagba East local government area.
Iselaye, who is well loved and accepted by both party members and youths of the federal constituency, is been widely considered as the incoming lawmaker from the constituency.
Unconfirmed rumors making round in the area was that the party hierarchy have been compromised by some leaders in the ruling class to shortchange the people of Yagba land from having a good representative at the green chambers. The are consciously plotting to field a weak candidate that can be easily defeated by APC or any other candidate that enjoys the blessings of the hungry ruling class during the 2019 general election.
The rumors as continued to gained credence with the insistence of some national leaders of SDP backing the candidature of this very weak candidate who even refused to turn up for screening prior to the party primary election and lost gallantly at the election.
Party faithfuls are wondering why some national leaders are bent on fielding same aspirant that lost woefully at primary election as the flag bearer of the party. This unwholesome development is gradually breeding high tension among members of the party and mostly youthful group who have resolved to support Honourable Iselaye through all lawful means because he is widely considered as one of them owing to his youthfulness, philanthropic and charitable records in the area.
Many of the youths who spoke to this reporter warned the party godfathers to desist from any act capable of creating crisis within the party and ensure that the upright and truthful tenets, on which the party is built upon and known for, is absolutely upheld by giving the peoples preferred candidate, Honourable Daniel Oluwafemi Iselaye his constitutional right to fly the party flag to victory in the coming election.
